Sunday's Thoughts & Thanks

The photo above I took of my son and my little grandson during my last holiday
The bottom photo was taken earlier this year when I went home,
It was the first time I met my little grandson.
Are they both not cute!!!!!
I love my boys!!
Thanks so much to all of you who left me comments with my last blog entry, it's really good to know I have all your support with my journey of maintaining my weight. Those of you who know me personally know that this has always been an area I've struggled with. Once at my goal weight I'd think *That's It, dieting all done* and start not worrying about what I put in my mouth like I did while dieting ( dieting I've learnt is bad for one )...and before I knew it the weight is back...and sometimes even more that what I started with.

This time I've learnt that it's a *Lifestyle* not a diet...that with the combination of calories, in to calories out and training I can do this....
After all these years I've finally had a the light bulb moment and can now start winning this battle....yes, even at my age it's not to late!

Today I went with hubby to gym...he did his usual thing while I ran for 10kl on the treadmill...I ran 10kl in 1 hour and 6 mins...15 mins before the end I wanted to throw in the towel and walk, but over the last 9 months I've learnt that I'm a lot stronger than I ever imagined...with positive mind talk I can get through any challenge that faces me in life. Such an empowering feeling this gives me.

P. S I'm going to clean out my blog feed reader this week,I'm spending too much time reading blogs and commenting on bloggers who never visit me, I want to spend more quality blog time with those who do make the effort...I've been commenting on some bloggers blogs for 5/6 months now and never even get a *HI* from them...Do you have the same situation??

~ Thanks for visiting my blog ~

Wow you are such an insapration. I have enough trouble running for a couple min. without stoping but I know as I work at it it will come so talk about all the journeys you want to keep the weight off. One day I hope to need to focus on staying where I am at and not needing to lose anymore. Keep it up!!!

YAY for lightbulbs going on!

Eating clean has helped me with the food aspect as I don't feel like I'm dieting at all ... just eating healthy for Life.
It's the exercise that I have to think of as a lifestyle and not just something to help me lose weight.

10 km is incredible and Bravo to you for keeping going even when you wanted to slow down. Good Girl! :D

I visit a small group of blogs now ... mostly women who I've *known* for a year and some new ones (You!) who are living the lifestyle that I admire and want to follow.
It became an all day thing for me and I wasted so much time on the internet and hardly got the important things in my *real* life done.
One of the reasons I turned off the comments is that I feel obligated to comment back to everyone and it became too time consuming to visit each and every blog. Those that want to are more than welcome to email me as You know :D
In real life, we wouldn't have time to interact with so many people so it's a bit unrealistic to think we can keep up here in Blogland.

Hope your Sunday is going well, Marcelle!

You are an inspiration ... but I've said that before :) !!!!!
Thanks for your comment today! We had a beautiful day today ... sun shining and everything in the garden looking good (a little battered from hail recently but otherwise good!) Sunshine is very uplifting isn't it? Most of our days in Ireland were cloudy and greyish - only had a couple of sunshiny days - and I must admit I couldn't live under grey clouds day in and day out. But then I'm an 'African' so I only know about living here!!!!
Love your photos of your boys :)Have a great week !

Wouldn't it be fantastic to think when we reached our goal we were DONE??? Man oh man it would make the journey easier. It's not though...bummer!

Blogland and blog love.....It's always awesome to get comments from people, but realistically we just can't always get to all the blogs we love all the time. Sometimes we read and don't comment. We just have to write for ourselves, read the blogs we love whether they read ours or not. Just when I think I'm going to quit reading a certain blog, they go and write some pearl I just couldn't live without! Darn them!!! hehe

Oh man, those pics melt my heart. I cannot even imagine seeing my son with a son of his own but one day it will be just so.

I dont read many blogs; I try to get my blog circle tight and I like to get to *know* my commenters so yes, I regularly clear up the reader too.

I do comment on a few other blogs that I enjoy and dont feel they need to reciprocate - my blog is very mommy-fied and its not for everyone so I dont really stress about reciprocal comments.

I do know the feeling. I've got my blogs divided in two: favourites. Those are the ones who regularly comment on mine. The other are people who seldom or never read my blog. I think that the least you can do is read someone's blog once if they comment on yours. The last group I don't read everyday and don't always comment.

Your blog on the contrary is number 1 in my list and always the first to read.

Girl, you were fast this morning on the 10K. Great job!

How funny that you were going through my old posts.

About the garden: yes that's my garden at home. You should come and check it out next summer :) You're more than welcome!

Here I am again :)

I try to lose weight next two months by just eating healthy as much as possible and exercise a lot: no dieting or something like that.

R. can't run. He's had a terrible accident (fell down about 6 meters from a roof while he was working) about 4 years ago now and broke his chop (correct word?, it's at the back of your foot) and till today he still has pain on it every now and then and can't run anymore or do some moves which are natural for us.

The realization that this is a lifestyle instead of a diet is the big leap that we all need to make. A diet's just a point A to point B but this journey we're on is one that has no finish line.

Good post, Marcelle.

Your son and grandson both look adorable! Your son has the most beautiful smile, judging from the photo you have of him on the side of your blog. You must be very proud! :o)

I did 5k on the treadmill this morning. I forgot how BORING the treadmill is!! If I'm going to get back to running inside, I'm going to have to research some interval training to keep things interesting. Good run for you this morning!

There's nothing like a family, that's for sure. You're quite proud of yours, and rightfully so. They seem to quite the excellent bunch.

I suspect your 10 km in the gym was a bit warmer than the 3 mile loop I did around campus earlier this evening with an air temp of 40F. To each their own. Treadmills and I never did get along.

Lovely photos!! !0 kl is awsome!! Specially on a treadmill!!! I don't blog and only read yours and two others ( when I have time)..I usually comment as I think ( rightly or wrongly) that one should at least say...something...if you have 'visited. Have a great week! xxx

"Hi" *giggle*

I don't have a long list of blogs that I follow, but have in the past deleted several for that reason. I do have a couple of others who I know do come to my blog but doesn't comment though as well.

Some days I feel like I'm still waiting for my light bulb to go off...but I do think I'm making progress. I'm a lot further along in my thinking and mindset than when I first started 5 months ago...that's for sure!!

And yes, I get the same problem w/ commenting on people's and they never say a word...so I just deleted them from my blogroll. Sure enough, a couple of them popped up and started commenting, lol. Sheesh...what can ya' do? :)
