What my hubby thinks of the new me

Photo's were taken the day before our 5th wedding anniversary,
we attended another South African living in Germany's 30th birthday dinner.
I'm going to ask my hubby to be honest with me and tell me what he really thinks about the new me - the new me that's lost 20 kgs...

I've never been someone to ask anyone ( let alone hubby ) if I look okay, if the clothing I'm wearing to a function looks okay on me, is my hair okay, do I look fat in these pants etc...you get the picture?. I decide and hope to hear the words * You look nice * - if those words don't come then thats also okay...but I never go looking for those words. I suppose I'm too scared to hear what the other person really thinks as I'm so sensitive it would bother me terribly if something negative was said to me.
So up to this day I've never asked hubby what he thinks about the new slimmer me.

So last night in bed I approached the subject...
WHAT DO YOU REALLY THINK OF THE NEW ME?

He told me that he loves the new me...that he admires me so much for what I've achieved - he never ever thought I would get it right after watching me attempt this journey a few times in the 5 years we were married.
He also said he never ever thought I was fat...looking back at my pictures he can see I was carrying a little more, but only now, never then.
Sometimes he worries that I might take it too far and get a eating disorder, so he does say things like -* You are skin and bone * but only out of concern, not that he does think I am skin and bone. He says it feels very different to run his hands over my body and feel my bones, my hip bones stick out when I lie down, in the past they were covered in fat.
So what I got from our discussion, was that he loved the new me, and that he was very proud of me and will be there for me to help with my maintaining as he knows that this is my current concern....

Well I'm glad you came right out and asked him and I'm also happy with his answer :D
I know you were a bit concerned so this must've been a pleasurable relief and joy to hear from Hubby!

I am relatively new to your blog, but see you posting comments on blogs I read, so I thought I'd stop in and say "hi!".

I also want to tell you how amazing you look and looked. From your pictures of where you have been and where you have come I always was able to pick up that you were happy. You are always smiling and I think that you being proud of where you were and how far you have come makes you the person you are.

I had the same conversation with my husband, he is my biggest motivator. It's nice when the person you love the most sees how far you have come and tells you how proud they are of you.

Congrats on your success and keep smiling!

Tell the hub I love him too for saying such nice words to you and that he's right!

I'm noticing that R. is getting confident that I'm really doing it this time. He has seen me struggling the past 9 years and lost faith that I would ever lose weight. But now he sees I'm really working hard for it and I overheard him a few times telling other people how much I'm running and what races I've run. It made me happy and proud that he's proud of me!

Oh and he reads my blog so he asked me at dinner who this American girl is who's coming to visit me  So I told him she's from South Africa and living in Germany :)

What a lovely picture of you and your husband. And by the way, I read on your blog that you ran 10K on the treadmill in about an hour? Great job!!! Any plans for a marathon? I bet you've got it in you...

Oh I love that you let us in on your little bedroom chat!! Dwayne, my boyfriend of 5 years, has been pretty vocal these last couple of weekends about what great progress I'm making. He's let me know that he's VERY pleased. :)

Nice Marcelle! Great that he is so supportive! Thank you for your comments on my blog about friendships and you are so right about those we've made in blogland! I also feel as though your'e all such a large part of my life. I have a friend who thinks I am nuts to take this blogging so seriously. But I do - and the special friends I have made. It feels as though I have known you for years! :)

my hubby said nearly the same thing when I lost 30lbs several years ago. he never noticed the extra weight until it was gone. I think that is a very loving thought.
